You should know...
S.E.E.R. refers to the energy rating of an air conditioner. Due to a recent government mandate, air conditioners of 10 S.E.E.R. will no longer be produced. Starting January 23, 2006 the minimum efficiency of all air conditioners will be 13 S.E.E.R. What that means to you is that you will get the same amount of cooling but will get additional electrical savings.
Refrigerant Type Most air conditioners installed in the past and today contain R-22 refrigerant. However, the government is in the process of banning its use. Each year, production of R-22 is lowered until its final phaseout in the year 2030. At the present time, the alternative earth friendly refrigerant is Puron or R410a.
