What temperature should I set my thermostat
at?
We recommend between 68-70 degrees for heating and 76-78
degrees for cooling. Adjust your thermostat for a 15 degree
temperature differential between indoor and outdoor
temperatures for maximum comfort and energy efficiency
during the cooling season.
Should I keep the furnace fan on all the
time?
Yes, continuous fan operation costs a little more, but will
even out the temperature in your home, especially in
multi-level or two story homes.

How often should I have my equipment
maintained?
The equipment manufactures recommend yearly maintenance on
your furnace and air conditioner to maintain proper
functioning levels and efficiency as well as avoiding
emergency service calls. Air-Rite offers the right plan for
you whether you need all your equipment cleaned at one time
or you want each unit cleaned during the season they run. We
also offer extended warranties on your equipment for
complete coverage.

Do I have to have my equipment maintained in
a specific time of the year?
The only limitation regarding certain times of year is on
your air conditioner maintenance. This can only be done when
the temperature is above 50 degrees. Otherwise maintenance
can be done at any time. For you car, you get an oil change
every 3000 miles, you don’t wait to do it until right before
you are going on a long trip. It is just the same with your
furnace or air conditioner. It is more important that they
are maintained once per year. You don’t have to wait until
right before the heavy season starts to have it maintained.

How often should I change my air filter?
Your filter or air cleaner should be inspected and cleaned
on a monthly basis. For furnaces with washable filters, the
filter should be cleaned the same as the disposable filters,
every month.

How long should it take to cool a hot house
down to 78 degrees?
The length of time to cool a home depends on how hot it is
outside and how long the unit has been off. Your air
conditioner may run non-stop when outdoor temperatures are
over 95 degrees. If it is 90 degrees outside at 5 o’clock at
night, and you return home and start cooking, you A/C may
run until 10 o’clock at night or later, before it will shut
down.

Is my unit big enough?
If we installed your system, we have sized your duct system,
furnace and air conditioner for comfort and efficiency. If
we did not do the installation, we would be happy to
schedule a free estimate.

Where should I set my humidistat?
Turn your humidistat off for the summer, 35% for the winter
and adjust as needed. Lower the setting if moisture forms on
the windows, and raise the setting form more humidity.

How often should I clean my humidifier?
Humidifiers should be cleaned each year along with your
furnace and the water pad should be replaced. This cleaning
can be added to any one of our maintenance plans.

How long will my equipment last?
Depending on usage, maintenance, and the model, your furnace
should last 12-15 years. Your air conditioner should last
10-12 years.
