Ductless Mini-Split Service

What Is A Ductless System?

Ductless systems—also known as ductless mini-splits—are electric heating and cooling systems that use the latest heat pump technology to provide heating and cooling without requiring ductwork. They’re a great alternative for homes that either aren’t conducive to additional ductwork or would make new ductwork installation too expensive.

Rather than switching on and off to maintain an ideal temperature, ductless systems operate continuously at different rates. By heating and cooling your home more efficiently, these systems save you money. Ductless systems are an alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems, rather than a replacement.

The Installation Process

Every Air-Rite Heating & Cooling technician follows these six basic steps when installing ductless systems:

Step 1

Find a convenient location to mount the indoor unit.

Step 2

Secure the indoor unit on the wall using the proper hardware.

Step 3

Drill a three-inch hole in the wall to run the refrigerant line, wires, and condensate drain line from the indoor unit to the exterior of your home.

Step 4

Place the outdoor unit on a sturdy foundation, ideally concrete, to keep it in place.

Step 5

Connect the outdoor unit’s control wire to the indoor unit. This device signals the indoor unit when to turn on and off throughout the day.

Step 6

Secure the refrigerant line and wires to the exterior wall. You can install a cover to conceal the components and protect them from damage.

On average, a ductless installation would cost you anywhere from $6,000 to $20,000.

Ductless AC systems function like standard central air systems. The only difference is that ductless systems don’t contain any ducts to transfer air.

Although ductless mini-splits may seem easier to install than traditional air conditioning units, we recommend consulting a licensed HVAC technician to install the system to achieve optimum results. Our mess-free installation process typically takes one day to complete.

While you don’t need to install a ductless unit in every room, doing so has its benefits—including simplifying the installation process and offering quieter run cycles.
